Deutschland Dispatch One - The Age of the Train!

Today I got up at 7am and headed to St Pancras station whereupon I travelled through many ages of rail to get to Berlin.   The initial start was to take a Eurostar to Brussels.  There I changed and travelled in the sheer luxury that is a German ICE train.  These are stunning.  After a few months of communiting on the Virgin Pendalino i was treated to what train travel is really like.  No smell, no unnecessary tilting just fast, clean and efficient trains.

I'm now settling down for the night after a curry out at a local curry place.  I'm staying in the old East Berlin and hope to make it to an English speaking Church tomorrow and explore the centre of Berlin.  It's all very flat so possibly even a bicycle ride or two may be involved.
